Caring for your real Christmas tree
At Station Farm Christmas Trees in Milnthorpe, we want your freshly cut tree to remain vibrant, fragrant, and lush right through the festive period. Follow our simple, expert care advice to ensure maximum needle retention and longevity.

Trimming the base and choosing the right stand
When you bring your tree home, saw roughly a centimetre off the bottom of the trunk. A clean cut opens up the sap channels so your tree can drink freely. Always mount your tree in a dedicated water-holding stand rather than a dry clamp, giving it the sturdy foundation and constant moisture it needs.

Positioning away from direct heat
Finding the right spot indoors makes a world of difference. Keep your tree positioned well away from open fires, radiators, and direct hot air vents, as heat dries out the needles rapidly. A cool corner with natural light will keep the foliage fresh and healthy for weeks to come.

Daily watering and ongoing maintenance
Real trees can drink up to two litres of water every day, particularly during their first week indoors. Check the reservoir every morning and top it up with plain tap water. Never let the base dry out, as a dried seal will stop the tree from absorbing any more hydration.
